BACKGROUND OF THE PROJECT:
- Project - Construction of new line from Mukerian to Talwara, consisting of earthwork, bridges,
retaining wall, RUB's/LHS, station building , residential quarters and other allied works in
c/w NLDM-TLR new B.G. Rail Link
- Length - 27.433 kms.
Nangal Dam-Talwara-Mukerian New Broad Gauge Line is a project of strategic importance falling in states of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. This project will serve as an emergency alternative route to Jammu and Kashmir joining the existing Jalandhar-Jammu Railway Line at Mukerian.
The purpose of this extension is to provide an alternative alignment and access to stations in Himachal Pradesh which are connected through this line.
The line from Nangal Dam to Daulatpur Chowk (60 kms) is already commissioned and work is under progress between Talwara to Mukerian falling under Hoshiarpur District of Punjab.
The alignment of Mukerian-Talwara involves construction of bridges, retaining wall, RUB's/ LHS, station building, residential quarters.
This project involves 13 Major Bridges, 76 Minor Bridges, 40 RUB's, and approximately 18.433 kms. of retaining wall.
